About Gen7

Welcome to Gen7. We hope you enjoy learning a bit more about who we are below.

Where We Came From

The concept behind Gen7 was born after 15 years of managing gas stations in a First Nation community and having several people approach ownership on how to operate a gas station. It became evident that help was needed. With each gas station that opened in a First Nation community behind a non-Native supply of fuel, station owners had to reinvent the wheel themselves. Non-Native fuel suppliers who have never run stations in Native communities were generally, in most cases, of no help. Gen7 has set out to change all that.

Behind the Gen7 Name

The Gen7 name is based around taking care of our people seven generations deep. First Nations beliefs teach us that whatever we do on Mother Earth is going to affect things–positively or negatively–for seven generations. Gen7 strives to foster a positive influence in First Nation communities, creating sustainable businesses that will be around for seven generations to come.

The medicine wheel and colours, sometimes known as the Sacred Hoop, has been used by generations of various Native American Tribes representing health and healing. The Medicine Wheel embodies the four directions, as well as Father Sky, Mother Earth, and Spirit Tree. It helps identify who we are and what we stand for, not only as a person but through our business.

When a First Nation person sees the Gen7 logo, they will understand the name as well as the colourings. When a Non-Native individual sees it, aside from being visually appealing, it will be a conversation piece. An opportunity to open up a dialogue, not only about what our business practices are fashioned after but also about who we are as a people.
