Gen7 Fuel is Ready for Orange Shirt Day with a New #EveryChildMatters T-shirt

Gen7 Fuel’s brand new orange shirts are in! Like last year, Gen7 Fuel will be selling the #EveryChildMatters shirts for Orange Shirt Day in-store with all the proceeds being donated directly into our Indigenous communities. All funds will go towards supporting Survivors of residential schools and reconciliation initiatives. Be sure to pick yours up in time for Orange Shirt Day on September 30th.

What is Orange Shirt Day?

Before the formation of the statutory holiday, September 30th was called Orange Shirt Day. This movement began in British Columbia in the early 2010s with a Survivor story where they recount being stripped of their brand new orange shirt on the first day at the residential school. Since then, Orange Shirt Day has opened the path to have meaningful conversations about the lasting effects of residential schools. The day also works to reaffirm that #EveryChildMatters, even if they are adults now. Orange Shirt Day became the first real step towards reconciliation with regards to the legacy of residential schools.

We wear orange on September 30th to honour the Survivors of residential schools, as well as the thousands of children who never returned home. We stand in solidarity with the families and communities who have suffered from the lasting legacy residential school had on not only Indigenous individuals, but entire cultures.

Today, September 30th is a statutory holiday, the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.
